Once you go Mac…

So a whle ago I got an old Mac G4. I started using it, and kind of loving it. Because of what I do and who I am, it was shortly decided that I should become more familar with Macs and what they offer, how they are used and how our customers use them.

So I recently got a Macbook: http://www.apple.com/macbook/

The jury is still out on whether it was worth the price, but without a doubt, this computer is far superior then any other I have ever own. I will have to blog more on other aspects of why I love it so, but for now lets look at the most basic feature and why the Macbook is changing my life:

- Fast Fast Fast Fast…. nuf said

- Battery usage: 7 hours yesterday without a charge. Now maybe because it is so new and I am doing so little with it right now, but still. The last Vista laptop I had lasted 2 1/2 hour tops.

- Ease of use: Simply, straight forward. What Apple equates to Windows Explorer is called Finder on the Mac, and it does exactly that. You can find everything you need to do with your Mac on Finder.

- Itunes: I was never a fan until now. I have had a 30 gb video Ipod for a little of a year and was less then happy because it took so long to sync movie and music. Now I know… it wasn’t the Ipod, it was the Windows PC. 2 movies syned onto the ipod in 4 minutes, Windows: 30 minutes.

- Sleep, Mac, Sleep: Close the cover, the Mac sleeps, unlike the Windows Sleep/Hibernate feature that never works, ever.

- 5 Pounds: New born babies wiegh more.

So I am sold on the superiority of the Mac, my true complaint right now is the price. I do a lot of Non-Profit work for churches and such. A church would never be able to afford a Mac based network. So we are stuck with Windows PCs there.

But who know what the future will bring…
